+flight & first day+

Mmmkay, so I'm finally here!!! I'm not much of a blogger, but check it out from time to time anyway cuz I'm sure I'll have a few cool things to share here & there. To be completely honest, Dionn K. Richardson held a large gun to my head before departure & said, "Start a blog so I can read your life like a book"....So here goes nothing.

(just kidding about the gun part...I actually held a cell phone to my head own head while she said that.)

Flight wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be....Still uber long, but not too terrible. I was sitting next to the lady in the window seat who scooted past me every 15 minutes to pee tho. The flight attendant kept calling me Beyoncé & gave me super special attention for the whole 16 hours...Pure entertainment! Anywho; caught a great view of some gorgeous mountains...not sure where, but they were lovely & deserved a photo...Have a look ::

I now live in a micro-mini studio apartment w/ a queen sized bed occupying 4/5 of the entire space. Too busy to post the tour video just yet, but I'll have it up as soon as I get the place fly. It's small, but it's free...plus I know I'll never be here, so no worries.

My first day in Seoul started out w/ the director of our school picking me & the other new guy up bright & early to get an extremely in-depth physical exam for our visas...They made us sing the Korean national anthem backwards while gargling soju with x-ray gowns on & a needle dangling out of each arm. Not really, but that's what it felt like. Too much, man...way too much.

After that, the director of my school took me & Matt (the other new guy) out to lunch...Had some good ol beef & leaf (bulgogi) & a bunch of my other faves like kimchi & bean sprouts. Yum Yum! Good choice, Mr. Hyung!!! He took us to the school & let us observe some classes. The kids are SO funny! I'm a super tall black woman,
which most of them have never seen before, so they all went bonkers for a minute....Some screamed & cried like someone was chopping their little toes off...Others ran into my doorway, gave me a big smile & waved really really hard...Some pointed with their mouths wide open like they just saw Sasquatch in the flesh & some ignored the teacher & gave me a blank stare throughout the entire class. Weird responses so far, but at least I know I'll have a captive audience. lol

One of my supervisors went to get me some coffee from down the street...When she came back, she said, "You are berry beautiful. Beautiful eyes! You can probably sing berry well. Women in Korea with the darker skin can sing berry well. All of the women on MTV look just like you. Like Beyoncé! Like Kimora!"......LOL!!! Made my day!!!!!! I'm bout to start charging 10,000 Won for autographs round here! Everybody stares. Very. Hard. With no shame.

Went to dinner w/ a few of my co-workers & some random new friends. Yummy Morrocan food! I have finally experienced the wonderful taste of lamb. Turns out that 2 girls I work with play rugby here, so I'll be joining their team soon. We'll go to Japan in June & watch my favorite team, the New Zealand All Blacks play & participate in a lil tournament. Wonderful time & place to pick up the sport again. Crazy conversations @ dinner ::

I work at a hagwon (private school), and I've been tricked into teaching classes on my second day here...not uncommon, cuz hagwons are known for actin a lil crazy, but Jeez Louise!!!! We'll see how it turns out....
